Nik Alcock, P.Eng, LEEDap - Principal
Nik’s career began as an industrial electrician/technician in the UK where he designed and commissioned large industrial control and automation systems. He immigrated to Canada in 2001 and transitioned into the electrical engineering field working for Healthcare, Correctional, Institutional, Municipal and Educational sector clients. 

In 2013 he founded Evolve Engineering to provide opportunities to work for long-term clients who saw the value in high-quality engineering services. Nik enjoys working on large, complex projects with an emphasis on emergency power systems, power distribution, lighting, life safety and communication systems. He has acted as prime consultant on many projects, and is able to leverage his trades background to understand and collaborate effectively with other engineering disciplines, contractors and suppliers.

Significant past project experience includes:

• VIHA Cowichan District Hospital Replacement (ongoing) – Owner’s technical advisory team for electrical, communications, and security for new acute care community hospital 
• VIHA North Island Hospitals Project – Owner’s technical advisory team for electrical, communications, and security for two new $300M hospitals located in Comox and Campbell River 
• RJH Patient Care Centre – Electrical Engineer for proponent team on a $360M 8 storey in-patient tower 
• IHA Royal Inland Hospital Clinical Support Building – Business case and indicative design of 2-storey clinic and 5-storey parkade 
• RJH Energy Centre – 12MVA, 25kV substation with 6MVA emergency power plant 
• VGH Emergency Department – 15,000 sqft addition to existing hospital  
• SPH Electrical Upgrade – New 25kV substation with 800kW emergency power plant
• Cowichan Lodge Psycho-geriatric – Extensive renovation and expansion of psycho-geriatric Facility  
• Numerous medical imaging upgrades including X-ray, CT Scanner and MRI equipment 
• Vancouver Island Regional Correctional Centre Living Unit Upgrades – Upgrades of power, lighting and security to all Living Units 
• Nanaimo Correctional Centre Electrical Upgrade – Upgrades to 25kV overhead power distribution, provision of new emergency power system with bumpless transfer, plus new fire alarm and public address systems 
• Victoria Law Courts – Fire alarm and life safety systems upgrade

Lisanne Naeth, P.Eng. - Principal
Lisanne has over 11 years of experience as a consulting electrical engineer in Victoria. During her bachelor’s degree at the University of Victoria she also studied and passed the Class A FSR Certification Exam at Camosun College. Lisanne was heavily involved with the ACEC-BC Young Professionals Group Steering Committee and held the position of Vancouver Island Group Vice-Chair.

Lisanne has worked on design projects in various sectors including Correctional, Municipal, Industrial, Transportation, and Security. In addition to project management roles, Lisanne is experienced with providing Registered Coordinating Professional services, feasibility studies, investment analysis reports, health and safety studies, security assessments, contract administration, multi-discipline coordination, cost analysis/estimates, tender and construction services, site inspections, and commissioning services.

• 617 Government St Main Electrical Upgrade and Third Floor Renovation – Retrofit of main building electrical infrastructure including 600V and 208V distribution and a SSBC LWS format 25,000 sqft office space renovation
• Central Heating Plant Main Breakers and Motor Control Center Replacement – Retrofit of 600V distribution breakers, 480V motor control center for boiler plant motors, feeder to the chiller plant PDC, and high voltage equipment maintenance
• Queen’s Printer Security Upgrade and Second Floor Renovation – Building security assessment and upgrades and a SSBC LWS format 15,000 sqft office space renovation
• RJH Island Medical Program Clinical Academic Campus & Simulation Lab – Renovation of 17,000 sqft space for a teaching facility including state of the art A/V conferencing facilities, clinical spaces, simulated ICU and OR rooms, offices, and support/administration spaces
• BC Hydro High Voltage Customer Vault Conversions – Conversion of multiple customer owned high voltage unit substations from 12.5kV to 25kV

Neven Colak, P.Eng. - Project Engineer
Neven’s career began as an electrical hardware designer in 2003 after completing his Computer Engineering Technology Diploma at Camosun College. After a number of years in the industry, Neven went back to school and completed his Electrician Red Seal Journeyman ticket. Shortly after, he completed his Electrical Engineering Degree at the University of Victoria. Neven brings a combined total of 10 years of electrical and trades experience to Evolve Engineering.

Neven recently obtained his P.Eng designation and has experience with schematic design reports, detail design, specification writing, site service audits and feasibility studies in the correctional, healthcare, municipal and industrial sectors. In addition, Neven is proficient at using ETAP for developing arc flash, protective device coordination and short circuit studies.

Significant past project experience includes:

• Engineering Studies – Arc flash, short circuit, and protective device coordination analysis for 19 pump stations (water and wastewater) for the Corporation of the District of Saanich
• 910 Government Street Datacentre – Design, tender and construction services for the decommissioning, relocation and conversion into a storage space for a Provincial Datacentre
• BC Ferries Deas Dock Engineering Study (Arc flash, coordination and short circuit analysis study)
• Vancouver Island Regional Correctional Center Critical Equipment Alarm Monitoring System (CEAMS) – Design, tender and construction services for a system allowing for faster identification and response time to critical equipment trouble or failure
• Nanaimo Correctional Center New Paging System Study – Schematic design, detailed design and construction services for the replacement of the obsolete paging system
• St. Ann’s Academy Driveway Lighting Upgrade  – Design, tender and construction services for the addition of new driveway lighting

Landon Prokop, EIT - Junior Engineer
Landon graduated from the University of Alberta in 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. During his time at the University of Alberta he completed 16 months of consulting electrical engineering experience through the Co-Operative Program. Following graduation, he entered into the trades as an electrician gaining hands on experience with commercial building systems and developed a passion for design constructability.

Landon has worked on design projects in various sectors including Municipal, Industrial, Transportation, and Commercial and is working towards his P.Eng designation. He is knowledgeable in the design of power distribution, lighting, life safety, security, and communication systems.
